Use the Delete Symbols button on Set Symbols to remove one selected symbol or clear every confirmed symbol from the project. The choices and warnings change to make the effect clear before anything is deleted.

  1. Delete Symbols: Select the trash button at the top of the Confirmed Symbols panel. It is available in List and Full view on Set Symbols.
  2. Selected symbol: A highlighted symbol changes the next prompt so you can delete that symbol only or delete every symbol.

When a Symbol Is Selected

Delete which symbols prompt offering the selected symbol, all symbols or CancelChoose whether to delete only the named symbol, delete every confirmed symbol or cancel without making a change. (Note: on iOS the cancel button is not displayed, simply click outside of the panel to cancel)
Delete the selected symbol: The named symbol is removed and its assigned grid squares become unassigned on every chart page. The choice sheet is the confirmation, so there is no second prompt.
Delete all symbols: Choosing the all-symbols option opens the stronger confirmation shown below.

Delete Every Confirmed Symbol

Check the number: The warning and confirmation button state exactly how many confirmed symbols will be removed.
Understand the effect: Every confirmed symbol and all of its grid square assignments are removed from every page. The chart grid itself remains in place.
This cannot be undone: Select Cancel if you are not certain. The destructive confirmation is deliberately labelled with ALL and the symbol count.

Did you know?

  • An empty list is safe: the delete button remains visible, but selecting it only tells you that there are no symbols to delete.
  • Select first to remove one: tap a symbol in the panel before opening Delete Symbols if you want the single-symbol delete choice.
  • The list refreshes immediately: after deletion, the removed symbol or symbols disappear and Set Symbols returns to its browsing state.
  • Rebuild the list after Delete All: open Configure Symbol Setup and use Rescan Symbols to import PDF symbols again or scan the chart images. The amount of manual repair depends on the source quality.
