View Existing Project is for projects that already exist somewhere: any project in the app, or one saved in a backup file.

It is part of the Home tab. See The Home Tab for the full picture.

Open

Every project, not just recent: The Home tab only shows your current and recent projects. Open lists everything, so a piece you shelved months ago is only two taps away.
Choosing: Pick the project from the list and it opens, becoming your current project.

Restore

From a backup file: Restore reads the file made by Export on any project card, and brings that project back complete, including every marked stitch.
Moving devices: Export on your old device, copy the file across, and Restore on the new one. Your whole project travels in a single file.
Good to know: Restoring needs an active trial or subscription, and the usual project limit still applies.

Did you know?

  • An export file is a complete snapshot. Restoring it brings back the chart, your markup and your progress exactly as they were.
  • Exporting before you experiment gives you a safety net. If anything goes wrong, Restore puts everything back.
