Grid Settings gives you fine control over the lines and markers that help you navigate a chart: thin cell lines, thick block lines, diagonals, row and column counts, the centre line and guide bars. Set up the grid exactly to taste.

These options live in the project settings screen.

Grid Lines

Master grid toggle

One switch hides or shows all grid lines at once, while keeping your individual settings. Clear the grid instantly without losing your setup.
Thin grid lines
Faint lines around individual cells. Set the thickness from 1 to 10 and pick their colour so single cells stand apart cleanly.
Thick grid lines
Bolder lines at intervals that break big charts into readable blocks. Set the thickness from 1 to 10, the block spacing from 5 to 50 cells, and the colour.

Diagonal Lines

Diagonal type
Choose None, top-left to bottom-right, bottom-left to top-right, or both. Slope guides help with tricky charts and diagonal stitching.
Diagonal style
Straight, stepped-above or stepped-below rendering, so the diagonals match your technique.
Diagonal thickness and colour
Set the line weight from 1 to 10 and pick a colour that stays visible without clashing.

Rulers and Page Breaks

Show grid counts
Show or hide the row and column numbers around the grid, so you always know your position in the chart.
Show page breaks
Draw lines between chart pages at the page boundaries, in a colour you pick. See how a multi-page chart lines up.

Centre Line

Show centre lines
Horizontal and vertical lines through the chart midpoint. Find the centre for symmetric pieces in a glance.
Style
Choose Lines or Dot rendering, whichever reads best for you.
Thickness and colour
Set the weight from 1 to 10 and pick a colour that tells the centre line apart from the grid.
Offset X and Y
Nudge the centre lines by a number of cells in either direction, for an off-centre reference on irregular charts. This setting is per project.

Guide Bars

Show guide bars
Movable bars that frame the area you are stitching. Set their size in cells and their colour with transparency.
Restrict to guide region
Limit the symbol list, marking and highlighting to cells inside the guide region, so you never mark outside your working area. Full guide.

Did you know?

  • Thinner grid lines were a direct tester request. Set thin lines to thickness 1 for a barely-there grid that keeps the chart readable.
  • The centre line can move. Repositioning the centre line was another tester ask. Use the offset to reference any point, and the Dot style for a marker instead of a full line.
  • Match the block size to your chart. Many designers print charts in 10 by 10 blocks, but you can set thick lines at any spacing from 5 to 50 cells.
  • Count inside the bars. Guide bars can report the stitch count for just the framed area. See the Guide Bars guide.
