Stitch-alongs (SALs) release their chart pages over time. Set the full project up on day one with blank holding pages, then drop each new page in as it releases. Your stitching progress stays safe throughout.

SAL tools live in two places: Configure PDF when you first build the project, and Replace Page in Project Settings when a new page arrives.

Setting Up a SAL Project

Add SAL holding pages
In Configure PDF, tap + on a tile and choose a blank stitch-along holding page. Add one for every page the finished chart will have. Full guide.

Plan the full chart
Pages in an existing project can be replaced but not added, so create every holding page you will need at setup, arranged in the finished left-to-right, top-to-bottom order.
Automatic grids
Holding pages get a grid built automatically from their neighbouring pages, so the whole chart is set up and browsable from day one.

When a New Page Releases

Replace Page
Open the project, go to Project Settings and tap Replace Page. The page list opens showing only chart pages, with a red banner as a reminder that you are replacing.

Pick the new page
Tap the holding page and choose the released page: from a PDF, a gallery or folder image, or a photo taken with the camera.
Several at once
Replace as many pages as you like in one visit, then tap Done. Each page is processed in turn with its progress shown.
Confirm the grid
Replaced holding pages get fresh grid and symbol detection, and you confirm the results in the usual setup steps before returning to stitching.

Your Progress Is Safe

Marks are kept
Replacing an updated copy of a page you have already stitched keeps your marked stitches. Only blank holding pages get a full fresh scan.
New symbols join your list
Symbols on the new page are matched to the ones you already have, and genuinely new symbols are added. Charts with text-based PDF data get their colours from the key automatically; image-only charts let you set colours in Set Symbol Colours.

Did you know?

  • Not just for SALs: Replace Page also swaps in a corrected page a designer re-issues, or a better photo of a book page. Your marks survive there too.
  • Mystery SALs welcome: a holding page just reserves a place in the chart. You do not need to know what will be on it.
  • Mixed sources are fine: released pages can arrive as PDFs one month and photos the next; any mix works in one project.
