Symbol Settings controls how the symbol you are stitching stands out on the chart: the shape and style of the highlight, its colours, and which symbols show in the panel.

It is part of Settings. Defaults on the Settings tab, per-project inside a project. The Settings Tab explains the two levels.

The Groups

Symbol Selection

Fill: Show the selected symbol as an Outline, a border around each grid square, or a filled Highlight.
Shape: Highlight grid squares with a square or a circle, whichever marker your eye follows best.

Symbol Colours

Symbol Search Colour: The highlight used when finding a symbol on the chart or the key, so the one you are hunting jumps out.
Unmarked Symbol Colour: The colour highlighting the selected symbol’s grid squares you have not marked yet, separating what is left from what is done.

Symbol Display

Ignore Marked Grid squares: When highlighting a symbol, skip the grid squares you have already done, so only the remaining work stands out.
Hide zero-count symbols on current page: Tidies the symbol panel by hiding symbols with nothing left on the page you are viewing. Only applies when a single page is selected.

Did you know?

  • Both highlight colours use transparency, so the chart symbol stays readable underneath the highlight.
  • Hide zero-count plus Ignore Marked is the tidy combination for the final stretch of a page: only what is left, only where it is left.
